Kristin Kladstrup is the daughter of a children's librarian, and the author of two previous books for children. About A Night in Santa's Great Big Bag, she says, "The story was inspired by a toy lamb my son received as a present when he was young. Over the years, the lamb developed a great curiosity about the world. Climbing into Santa's bag is just the sort of thing he might do." She lives near Boston with her husband and two sons.

After graduating from Terre Haute South Vigo High School, Tim Jessell attended the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he earned a bachelor of fine arts degree, graduating cum laude in commercial design. Jessell has done illustrations for a variety of companies and magazines, including Texaco, Time, Polaroid, and Hasbro Games. He also illustrates the Secrets of Droon series and has done the cover art for reissues of Zilpha Keatly Snyder's backlist. He lives in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
