Kersten Hamilton is the author of several picture books and many middle grade novels. She was born in High Rolls, New Mexico in 1958. By her sixth birthday, she knew she wanted to be a writer. She survived many misadventures living on a homestead in Alaska, catching tree frogs in the rain forest, chasing dust devils and rattlesnakes across New Mexico, and working as a ranch hand, wood cutter, lumberjack, census taker, and an archeological surveyor.
