To help share books with young people across Asia, We Give Books has joined forces with the Asia Foundation, a non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to the development of a peaceful, prosperous, just, and open Asia-Pacific region. Their Books for Asia program puts one million new books and resources into the hands of students, educators, and community leaders each year. These donations support educational programs in 18 countries and help those who do not have access to quality reading material overcome obstacles and better their lives.

Mission

Books for Asia provides books to young people because the organization believes in the power of education to transform lives and inspire long-lasting change. They envision a world where children have access to books that inspire them to develop to their full potential and where every community leader has access to up-to-date information to inform his or her decisions. Their aim is to reach those most in need, including those in remote or conflict-ridden areas.

Impact

In the Asia Foundation's fifty-five years on the ground in Asia, they have witnessed, again and again, the extraordinary ripple effect of providing students, teachers, and librarians with outstanding, up-to-date texts. Books crackle with ideas and theories, and inspire, shape, and hone young people's imaginations, critical thinking skills, and their understanding of the world and their place in it. Books for Asia recipients—more than forty-five million people and growing—help advance their communities and contribute to the developing Asia-Pacific, supporting the region's development goals for peace, prosperity, and openness.

Goal

Earlier this year, We Give Books helped deliver brand-new books to young people in Mongolia thanks to the Books for Asia program. Now, we want to do it again. Thanks to your efforts, young people who otherwise might not have them will have new books to read and share together--a powerful tool with the long-term potential to combat poverty and disease, and to promote stability.
