Jumpstart's Read for the Record

Read a free children's book online today and help support Jumpstart's work in early childhood literacy. For every book you read between now and October 16 in support of Jumpstart's Read for the Record, We Give Books will donate one book to Jumpstart's effort to build reading libraries in preschool classrooms across America.
Jumpstart's efforts extend far beyond a single Read for the Record day. As a national leader in early childhood education, Jumpstart has worked with more than 90,000 students in low-income communities since its founding in 1993. Every child deserves the chance to succeed, yet studies show that children from low-income neighborhoods are at a greater risk of school failure. Jumpstart works to remedy this problem by recruiting and training college students and community volunteers to engage preschool children in low-income neighborhoods. Through a proven curriculum, these children develop the language and literacy skills they need to be ready for school, setting them on a path to close the achievement gap before it is too late.
This October, We Give Books aims to donate 50,000 children's books to help build reading libraries in the neighborhoods that Jumpstart serves. These are books that preschool children can return to again and again as they develop the language and literacy skills they need to begin a lifetime of learning. So join us now - and on October 6 - to read for the record and support Jumpstart's important work.
