Room to Read transforms the lives of millions of children from disadvantaged communities in Africa and Asia by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. In collaboration with local communities, the organization helps develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children. It also provides long-term support for girls to complete secondary school. 

To accomplish these goals, Room to Read establishes libraries, creates local language children's literature, constructs and rehabilitates schools, and provides support and educational opportunities for girls to develop the relevant life skills to succeed in school and beyond.

Since 2000, Room to Read has impacted the lives of almost 6 million children by:

• Establishing 12,074 libraries
• Publishing 585 original local language children's titles in 23 different languages, and distributing over 9 million books;
• Constructing 1,443 schools; and
• Providing holistic, long-term educational opportunities to 10,918 girls.

Thanks to your efforts, We Give Books will help Room to Read provide new children's books to young people across Zambia to help them learn to read. We aim to provide 20,000 books to Room to Read's library program in Zambia. Each book will become a part of a Room to Read multi-lingual library that will inspire children and encourage a lifelong love of learning.
