Todos a Leer is an initiative that brings children into the world of literature. One of its main objectives is to raise public awareness about the importance of early childhood literacy. Each year, the program hosts events throughout Jalisco that bring together primary school children, educators, the local community, and other lovers of books to celebrate reading and the power of literacy.
In conjunction, the program donates new books to schools in need throughout the state. By doing so, and in providing students with early building blocks for education, Todos a Leer works to help eradicate social inequality and promote equality of opportunity. This year, Todos a Leer aims to make its largest donation to date, with 20,000 books delivered to 140 schools.
A partnership between the Pearson Foundation and Jalisco's Ministry of Culture, Todos a Leer was initiated in 2008 by Pearson employees, as a way to make a tangible and long-lasting difference in the lives of young people in Mexico. Each year, the program has grown; so far, more than two million children have participated.
With your support, Todos a Leer will reach its We Give Books goal of donating 20,000 books to students throughout Jalisco, Mexico - enabling even more young people to participate and share in the benefits of reading.
