Hurricane Sandy Relief

Help Children and Schools Still Recovering from Hurricane Sandy.

With your support, we can help schools in need rebuild their libraries and donate more new books to the hardest hit communities. We Give Books works with the following notable organizations serving on the front lines of Hurricane Sandy Relief:

African Library ProjectAdoptAClassroom.org set up a special program, with partner OfficeMax, to direct funds to schools hit by the hurricane. Heal the HuRT (Hurricane Relief for Teachers) restores resources and materials to affected classrooms. One hundred percent of all funds donated goes directly to teachers, and benefits the students, in the impacted areas.

LitWorld LitWorld programs and campaigns build self-confidence, promote leadership, and strengthen children and their communities. When floodwaters from Hurricane Sandy destroyed the pediatric library at New York City’s Bellevue Hospital, LitWorld leapt into action to help replenish the books and, in turn, encourage resilience, hope, and joy through the power of story.

Reading Partners Reading Partners is dedicated to transforming struggling young readers into confident readers who are excited about learning. With significant programs in New York City, Reading Partners quickly identified students affected by Hurricane Sandy and stepped in to a provide assistance.

Help We Give Books and the Pearson Foundation assist those impacted by Hurricane Sandy by giving to the Pearson Foundation Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund. Together, we can help communities, relief organizations and schools with recovery in the weeks and months to come. Now through year-end, we'll match contributions made via our site dollar-for-dollar.
