Black History Month originated in 1926. February was picked in honor of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln, who were both born in that month.

Three Tips for Reading with Your Child

Establish a routine Read every day with your child at the same time, so that reading becomes something you look forward to doing together daily.
Read books that your child likes! Children are more likely to enjoy being read to when they are interested in the topic.
Talk about the book. Ask your child open-ended questions about the book you've read together to encourage discussion and understanding.
