On April 1, the ReadMobile arrived in Florida's capital after sharing more than 6,000 brand-new children's books in classrooms, libraries, and United Way Community Centers across the state.
The monthlong We Give Books ReadMobile Tour covered the Sunshine State from Jacksonville to Miami and from Daytona to Sarasota — logging a total of 2,900 miles, visiting 25 schools, and reaching more than 3,200 schoolchildren.
Along the way, the ReadMobile not only gave away those 6,000 books from Anna Dewdney's popular Llama Llama series, but the big orange van and its crew also shared Llama Llama plush toys and lots of reading fun and activities, all to inspire and engage young readers.
Throughout the tour, the ReadMobile encouraged schools, families, and communities to celebrate the power of reading.

For every book you read online, We Give Books will share another brand-new children's book with the Florida school of your choice!
Driving through thunder, lightning, and rain just outside the Ocala National Forest to reach the town of Fort McCoy and Fort McCoy Elementary School, where young readers stormed us upon our arrival.
Visiting Pine Villa Elementary School in Miami, where — even though it was the day before Spring Break — more than 80 young readers overwhelmed us with their excitement at our arrival.
Pulling up to Louise S. McInnis Elementary School in De Leon Springs, greeted by upbeat music: "Footloose" and "Good Day, Sunshine."
Giving away books, playing literacy games, doing art projects, and creating collage paper cut-outs for the "Hanging of the Hands" at the Capitol Rotunda.
The tour concluded in Tallahassee just in time to participate in the annual Children's Week Celebration. There, we joined state leaders, educators, and celebrities to emphasize the importance of reading and literacy for Florida families.
